Dave leads a team of experienced project managers and engineers who deliver high-performance operations and expert management services to a demanding list of mission-critical facilities. These include the Army National Guard Readiness Center Headquarters, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Office of Thrift Supervision, the University of Maryland’s University College, the Center for Advanced Study of Language (CASL), ATK Aerospace, the World Bank facilities and several commercial office buildings. In addition, he is one of the division’s safety directors and an OSHA 10-hour trainer. He is also involved in EMCOR’s Green Building and LEEDS certification objectives.

 

Expertise

Dave brings more than a quarter century of commercial and residential facilities management experience to his position. His career began as an officer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he commanded two combat construction equipment units, one in South Korea and another in the United States. Following his Army career, he joined KPA, Inc. as a community property manager with responsibility for managing condominium properties in northern Virginia and Maryland. During this time, he coordinated an ecological movement that won the state forestry department’s “Green Award” for landscape and tree preservation.

 

He then joined Charles E. Smith Commercial as a building director. From this position, he was given increasingly greater responsibility and promoted up through the ranks to property manager, regional director and portfolio director – Mid-Atlantic region. While in the latter post, he played a key role in Bank of America Mid-Atlantic Region’s Y2K certification program, inventorying and testing all date-sensitive building equipment systems. He also developed the form used by the bank for equipment testing certification nationwide.

 

Dave holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at El Paso and done graduate work at the University of Maryland’s University College. A member of the Building Owners & Managers Institute (BOMI) and the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), he holds BOMI’s facilities management administrator (FMA) and real property administrator (RPA) designations.

 

The Personal Side

Father of a daughter and two sons, Dave enjoys spending time with his children, riding his motorcycle, and playing guitar.
